Childress Christmas in the Park

To better help the communities we serve and further South Plains Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up mission of neighbors helping neighbors, the Operation Round Up Board of Directors created a community grant program to help local non-profit organizations.

Thanks to our generous membership, Operation Round Up was able to give out $24,000 in grants to 19 local non-profit organizations.

Childress Christmas in the Park was a 2020-2021 recipient of an Operation Round Up grant. Christmas in the Park was established in 1996 to bring holiday joy and spirit to the Childress community.

With the grant, they purchased a new 20-foot Christmas tree to be the center of their display. The tree will be recognized as a memorial for Charlene Smith who was one of the founding members of Christmas in the Park. Charlene had a vision to begin this annual Christmas event, and with SPEC's help, she will be honored every year.
